Shostakovich's best The 10th is in my opinion, Shostakovich's finest symphony. Among my reasons for this opinion is the high degree of motivic integration througout all four movements. I came to see this integration only after studying the score as well as listening. The 9th, if a lesser piece, is still enjoyable. |
